Data and Network Security FAQ's

Despite the wide media coverage of damage caused by malicious hackers and viruses, many businesses are still surprised when it happens to them. The importance of good security and backup systems cannot be stressed strongly enough.

Automated Backup Systems
Three things to remember when it comes to your business-critical data; backup, backup & backup. Hard disks can fail without warning; viruses, accidents, hackers & employees can all destroy or corrupt your data. Our automated backup solutions will protect your data with minimum effort on your part, leaving you to concentrate on business with total piece of mind.

UPS
Uninterruptible Power Supplies protect your data by allowing your servers to shut down properly in the event of a power cut. Sudden loss of power can otherwise cause partial or total data

Virus Protection
We can install virus protection that not only protects your entire network, but will update itself automatically over the Internet. We can give you the ability to view details of viruses intercepted on any computer or server on your network from a single management console.

Firewalls
Many hackers (like other criminals) are opportunists. They will search on the Internet for an easy target computer that offers little or no protection against their attack. We can install and configure leading software or hardware firewalls (depending on your specific requirements) whilst ensuring that the applications and Internet services you need are not interfered with.

Password Protection
Using secure operating systems like Windows 2000, XP, & Server 2003, we can configure your computers and servers with password protection. This means you can specify who you do and don't want to allow access your computers and various departments files. You can also assign different levels of access to those files e.g. read only, modify, full control etc. You can specify which aspects of your computers should be accessible to which people in your organisation and which applications they should be able to use.

RAID & Clustering
Hard disks are one of the most vulnerable parts of a computer or server due to their moving parts. Normally if one fails, you loose all data after your last backup and can't carry on work until that data is restored. With a RAID solution you continue working if a single disk fails and the damaged disk can be replaced without causing disruption. Clustering goes one step further by allowing work to continue if an entire server fails. This is vital if you can't afford any downtime.
